The Canberra Raiders Jersey Flegg side will start their finals campaign this Saturday when they face the top of the table Cronulla Sharks at Campbelltown Stadium.

The Raiders Jersey Flegg side are coming off an impressive 28-26 win over the St George Dragons at Ron Costello Oval.

Cronulla showed why they are premiership contenders after defeating the Newcastle Knights 12-0 at McDonald Jones Stadium.

Raiders Jersey Flegg coach Ash Barnes says the team effort against the Dragons was terrific but the side still have areas to work on heading into the finals.

“I thought our effort was outstanding, it was a really physical game, it was a really tough game and I think it was a game we needed before the finals,” Barnes said.

“We are still a little ill-disciplined at different stages and that’s something we are looking to fix up ourselves,” Barnes said.

With the first week of finals starting up, Barnes says the young Jersey Flegg side are feeling eager as they head into the post season,

“They are really excited, for a lot of these kids this is the longest season they’ve been a part of, it’s a really good reward for them and the effort they have put in,” Barnes said.

The Raiders will be hoping for a different result this week after losing by one point to the Sharks in Round 14 but Barnes says the side is ready to take it to the in-form Sharks,

“Sharks have been the form team for the whole year, they deserve to be first but we’re really excited to get another chance at them.” Barnes said.
