All aboard! There’s plenty more room on the Raiders bandwagon!
If you’re unsure on who to support this Sunday, here are ten reasons as to why you should support the Green Machine.
1. Everyone loves an underdog
The Sydney Roosters have won 14 premierships, are aiming to become the first team to win consecutive premierships since the Broncos in 1993…YAWN!
After not having tasted premiership success since 1994, the Raiders are in to their first Grand Final in 25 years. No experts gave the Raiders a chance at the start of the year to make the eight let alone reach the Grand Final.
2. The Viking Clap
The Viking Clap will make it’s Grand Final debut this Sunday and if you haven’t experienced it yet, what a time to do it!
Canberra legend and the 13th Immortal, Mal Meninga will lead the Viking Clap as the players make their way on the field.
Fans and even players have enjoyed the experience since coming to Canberra since 2016 and everyone wants to take part.
3. Sia Soliola
The man, the hair, the legend.
Sia Soliola is one of the true gentlemen of the game and is rightfully up for the Ken Stephens Medal for all the work he does for the community and various charities.
The hardworking prop had the foresight to swap Bondi for glorious Canberra and when someone of his integrity makes a move like that, you follow suit.
4. The Fans
You’ll actually have someone to cheer with.
5. Jarrod Croker
The joy on the Raiders captain’s face when the Raiders booked their place in the Grand Final was a decade in the making.
Since coming through the club’s ranks, Croker has broken nearly every record imaginable including becoming the club’s all time leading try scorer and points scorer.
Having been overlooked for representative honours year after year, Croker keeps churning out consistent performances as the heart and soul of the club.
6. Great Coffee
Would you rather a triple shot hazelnut latte on macadamia milk or a quality coffee made on full strength Raiders Choc-Mint Milk? (#UpTheMilk)
7. Awesome Food
We’ve got green bread, green sausages, green beer, green coffee, green donuts and most importantly no green vegetables. What’s not to like there?
8. Two caps is better than one sombrero
With the return of Andrew ‘Cappy’ McFadden to the Raiders ranks, the Raiders have two caps in 2019.
9. Multicultural
The Raiders squad represent the most nationalities without a doubt. We are cross section of Australian society and that’s what makes us so great. Not only do we have our English lads but we have players from Turkey, New Zealand, Serbia, Cook Islands, Samoa, Tonga, Australia and even Tuggeranong.
