Whilst recently visiting fire affected areas along the NSW South Coast, Raiders Players have not only brought smiles to local community members faces through interactions but have also been afforded the opportunity to donate money to areas of identified need.  Such donations have been raised through Club fundraising activities and contributions from Raiders Licensed Clubs.

Last Thursday at Willinga Park, during an intimate gathering of identified Rural Fire Service personnel, as pictured Raiders Captain Jarrod Croker surprised attendees by handing over $6,000 on behalf of The Mawson Club (formerly Canberra Raiders Leagues Club – Southside).  The following six local Fire Brigade units were each awarded $1,000 - Conjola, Milton, Tabourie, Kioloa, Bawley Point and Depot Beach.

Charlie Magnuson from the Bawley Point Volunteer Rural Fire Brigade said “The Raiders generosity is most welcome as we restore equipment and purchase new equipment in our quest of keeping the community safe”.

Allison Stanhope, General Manager of the Mawson Club responded “The Mawson Club, as a member of the Raiders Trading Group, proudly make these donations to our ‘friends’ in the local coastal community. Despite being Canberra based, we share many attachments to local towns and our hope is that these donations will assist in a small way with the recovery and rebuilding effort”.
