The Canberra Raiders ‘Super Squad’ has won the Judges award at this years Volunteering ACT awards night.

The Volunteering Awards acknowledge and celebrate the outstanding contribution of thousands of volunteers around the Canberra region who willingly give their time and skills to the community each year. The virtual Awards ceremony was held on Tuesday 8, with the Super Squad winning the Judges Award.

At a time where sports and participation are so important to people’s health and wellbeing, the Super Squad has been integral to keeping our Canberra spirit alive. Without the Super Squad, the Canberra Raiders would not be prepared for their home games, it’s as simple as that.

The Super Squad is made up of 13 young Canberrans who are living with a disability. Each volunteer in the Super Squad is involved in ensuring the Raiders are best prepared to take on their opponents at home games by making sure changerooms, member lounges, business lounges, forecourt activation, and coaching boxes are all set up and ready to go.

They even ensure the important Viking Horn is ready for action. The Super Squad is a vital part of not only the Raiders Team, but also the Canberra community, and are well deserving of the Judges’ Award.
