NSW Cup Preview: Raiders v Eels

The Canberra Raiders side take on the Paramatta Eels in their second game of the season at Ringrose Park on Saturday at 5:30pm.

After starting the year off strong with a 32-18 triumph over the Magpies last week, the Raiders will hope to get another win under their belt.

With a few changes to the Raiders line-up, they will still be hard to beat as Corey Horsburgh enters into the front row after serving his one-game suspension in round one.

Brad Schneider also moves into starting half position after an impressive game off the bench last week, replacing Sam Williams who has been listed in the NRL 21-man squad.

It will be the first game of the season for the Eels after having the bye last week.

Key Match Ups

Albert Hopoate v Will Penisini

Albert Hopoate will be the player to watch, after scoring a double on the wing in last week’s match. Hopoate moves into the centres this week and will pose a threat to the Eels defence.

Will Penisini, the Eels 19-years-old rookie will also be one to watch after he’s impressed the Eels hierarchy in his NRL preseason.

NSW Cup Post Game Reaction: Aekins and Hopoate

Matt Frawley v Jordan Rankin

These two very experienced halves will go head-to-head on Saturday, hoping to get the win for their teams.

Frawley has been a dominant leader in the side. The Belconnen Sharks junior set up multiple tries last week and scored his own from a dummy-pass five metres out.

Jordan Rankin will also play a huge part in the Eels challenge to win as he will be captaining the side.

Raiders v Magpies NSW Cup Round 1 Highlights
