Panthers beat Raiders in NSW Cup

The Penrith Panthers have defeated the Canberra Raiders 24-10 at BlueBet Stadium in the NSW Cup.

After a physical start to the match, lock Corey Horsburgh crashed over the line after receiving a short ball from Kai O’Donnell.

Former Panther Caleb Aekins sliced his way through a gap to score against his former side as the Raiders secured their second try of the match.

The Panthers fought their way back into the match and scored a try when winger Tom Jenkins latched onto a grubber to make the scores 10-6 at halftime.

In the second half the Raiders started brightly and Matt Timoko managed to get a pass away to his Elijah Anderson on his outside but the winger was taken into touch.

The Panthers levelled the scores in the 50th minute as a grubber ricocheted off the Raiders to allow Jaeman Salmon to score. Kurt Falls made no mistake with the conversion to give the hosts the lead.

Brent Naden produced a flick pass for Robert Jennings to score in the corner as the Panthers extended their lead.

The Panthers sealed the win through Izack Tago as he caught a cross-field kick to score.
