Raiders and Canberra Milk raise $10,000 for headspace

The Canberra Raiders and Canberra Milk have combined to raise $10,000 for headspace Canberra and Tuggeranong, from the production and sale of some limited edition Ken Behrens Milk jerseys.

18 Jersey’s were sold in just under 90 seconds to some lucky Raiders members, while an additional jersey was auctioned off via Allbids to help complete the donation.

The jerseys were each individually signed by the team which played against Manly in round 23 and feature the Ken Behrens Milk logo on the front.

EGM of Bega Beverages, Darryn Wallace, said what started out as a bit of fun, had gone on to raise some much-needed funding for a vital community organisation.

“Canberra Milk is thrilled that an initiative that started off as a light hearted story has quickly transformed into raising $10,000 for Headspace Canberra and Tuggeranong at a time when these services are more important than ever,” Mr Wallace said. “We’d like to thank all those who purchased a jersey and got behind the cause for helping us achieve this great result.”

Raiders Media and Digital Manager Ben Pollack said the Raiders were proud to help raise the funds and thanked Canberra Milk for their efforts in making it happen.

“To provide $10,000 for headspace Canberra and Tuggeranong has been a huge bonus from something which was simply intended to lift people’s spirits during lockdown,” Pollack said. “Headspace provides some wonderful services for young people in the community and we know this money will go towards this work.

“We’d like to thank Canberra Milk for working with us on this and making sure we could turn some fun into a wonderful community initiative.”

Headspace is a free or low-cost confidential service for young people between the ages of 12-25 years. They offer support for drug and alcohol use, mental, physical and sexual wellbeing.
