Season Review: Locks

Joe Tapine started the season in the lock position, playing four of the first six games there before moving to the interchange bench.

He spent some time on the sidelines with a knee injury at the midway mark of the season, before finishing the year in the front row, playing the last seven games in this position.

Ryan Sutton played 22 games this season, alternating between lock, front row and the interchange bench.

Sutton started 13 games at lock in 2021 and finished the season third in the Meninga Medal voting.

In his last season in the NRL, Sia Soliola played four games starting at lock, finishing the season with 17 games.

Corey Horsburgh played eight games for the Raiders off the bench in 2021, as well as playing two games for the Bulldogs in a player loan agreement.

Horsburgh had another season troubled by injuries, suffering a dislocated wrist in Round 12, while he also had surgery after sustaining a shoulder injury in the Raiders loss to the Roosters in Round 25.

Ryan James (Round 5), Dunamis Lui (Round 10) and Hudson Young (Round 20) all started in the lock position once this season.

Josh Hodgson also spent some time at lock during the season, as Coach Ricky Stuart played both he and Tom Starling at the same time during matches in 2021.

When Starling came from the bench it allowed Hodgson to play a ball playing lock role which gave the Raiders an extra attacking option.
