Five Raiders named in Kiwis' World Cup wider squad

Five Canberra Raiders players have been named in the New Zealand Kiwis' Rugby League World Cup wider squad.

Corey Harawira-Naera, Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad, Jordan Rapana, Bailey Simonsson and Joe Tapine have all been named in the 38-man squad in the lead up to the Rugby League World Cup.

Despite the absence of international football over the last two years, 2022 shapes to be a busy year on the international calendar, with New Zealand Rugby League (NZRL) working towards a June Pacific Test and Trans-Tasman clash before the postponed World Cup kicks off in October 2022 in England.

NZRL has also named a ‘notable Kiwi players’ list which includes young Raiders players Sebastian Kris, Matt Timoko and Sione Moala.

Nicoll-Klokstad, Harawira-Naera and Tapine were all part of the Kiwis squad that last played at the end of the 2019 season against the Kangaroos and Great Britain.

Simonsson was part of the Kiwis Rugby League World Cup 9s squad in 2019, while Rapana last played for the Kiwis in 2018.
