The Raiders round 5 home game is against the Melbourne Storm at McDonalds Park in Wagga Wagga on Saturday 9 April, 2022 kicking off at 3pm.

Mayor of the City of Wagga Wagga Cr Dallas Tout said the Raiders’ commitment to bring their third game in four years to Wagga Wagga was a strong reflection of the partnership the club and the city have forged in recent times.

“This regional game has developed into one of the most anticipated events on our calendar in recent years which is fantastic for local residents and also the broader Riverina community who love to support the Raiders in Wagga Wagga,” Cr Tout said.

“We had to call off the 2020 fixture due to the uncertainty of the pandemic and last year’s game went ahead with limited numbers due to restrictions.

“This year we’re hoping to have greater capacity available which will be terrific for the community and also the players who I’m sure enjoy playing to a packed crowd … and that’s something we want to deliver this year if possible.

“Get online, get your tickets and lock in 9 April for a day of rugby league action between two great clubs with strong traditions and links to the Riverina.”

Cr Tout also reminded rugby league supporters that the city’s Fusion22 multicultural festival was being held on the evening of 9 April and was a fantastic opportunity for footy fans to extend their stay and get along to this event.

“We’re a very diverse and inclusive city and the Fusion festival of live music, street food and culture represents what that means to us,” Cr Tout said.

Raiders’ CEO Don Furner said the club is looking forward to returning to Wagga Wagga and rewarding their many Riverina supporters with an NRL game in their own backyard.

“The past few years has been tough and we’ve all adapted to the challenges, but one thing that hasn’t changed is our commitment to bring one of our games to Wagga,” Mr Furner said.

“We’re moving forward, hopefully towards better times away from the pandemic, and our club is keen to play our part in that recovery.

“We look forward to the Wagga fixture, there’s a great vibe around the city which just adds to the strong relationship we have forged with the region.

“A game against the Storm doesn’t get much better … it should be a great game at a great venue in front of a great crowd.”

General public tickets will be available from 10am Tuesday 8 February 2022 here.
