NSW Cup & Jersey Flegg Round Eight Preview

The Raiders NSW Cup and Jersey Flegg teams will travel to Kellyville Park to take on the Parramatta Eels in round eight of their respective competitions.

The Raiders NSW Cup team will be looking to bounce back after a disappointing loss to the top of the table Panthers last weekend, going down 44-12 in Penrith.

There have been some key changes to the side this week. Sebastian Kris has been named to start at fullback, with Albert Hopoate shifting to the wing. Harry Rushton will start at lock after making his NRL debut last week, moving Peter Hola back to the bench.

Rushton has been one of the best forwards in the competition this season. Averaging 122 running metres a game, Rushton also has three tries in his first five appearances of the season.

The Raiders currently sit in seventh position on the ladder while the Eels sit fourth with two wins separating them on the ladder.

The Eels will be looking for their third win in a row after big victories over the Magpies and the Knights who they defeated 26-8 last Sunday.

The Raiders will be looking to improve their defence up against the Eels, who have scored the third most points in the competition so far this season.

The green machine will also want to replicate their attack from their three game winning streak earlier this season, where they scored 103 points in those three wins.

The Raiders Jersey Flegg side will also be looking to bounce back after a heavy defeat to the Panthers last Sunday.

The side have made two changes for this weekend, with Steven Numambo moving to the wing and Josh Smith shifting to the centres.

The Flegg team will be seeking to avoid a third loss in a row after turning their season around with back to back wins in rounds four and five.

Meanwhile the Eels will also be looking to bounce back too after going down 27-20 to the Newcastle Knights in round seven.

The Raiders currently sit in 11th with just one less win than the seventh placed Eels so a win this weekend could see the Raiders push into the top eight.
