Katrina Fanning Shield: Round 11 Wrap

Round 11 of the Blumers Lawyers Katrina Fanning Shield has come and gone with just the one match due to five teams facing the bye and one game resulting in a forfeit.

Woden Valley Rams 70 d Boomanulla Raiders 0

In the only game over the weekend for the Katrina Fanning Shield, the second placed Rams put on a show defeating Boomanulla convincingly by 70-points at Boomanulla Oval on Saturday.

The win for Woden Valley was their third in a row and has secured them a spot in the top four come finals time in just under a month.

It was a whole team effort from the visitors who ran in an impressive total of 12 tries to record their season-high score. The trio of Georgia Willey, Chloe Doon and Narmeen Samsam were standouts with each of them registering two tries on the day.

Unfortunately for the Raiders, this result still leaves them at the bottom of the ladder with zero wins and nine losses.

With only three games left in the season, they will be extremely determined to register a victory with two of those games against bottom four sides.

Boomanulla face South Coast United this weekend at Mackay Park while the Rams host a top four clash against Goulburn.

Tuggeranong Bushrangers vs Yass Magpies match resulted in a forfeit.

The Postseason

The Blumers Lawyers Katrina Fanning Shield has three rounds remaining until finals and the top four has skipped away with the fifth spot well and truly up for grabs.

The Katrina Fanning Shield postseason runs with two separate finals series. The first being a top-five format aligned with the Canberra Raiders Cup. The second being a bottom-four format aligned with the George Tooke Shield.

There looks to be an intriguing race to the finals between the fifth placed Bushrangers and sixth placed South Coast who are tied on eight points and only separated by for and against.

The two sides are scheduled to clash in round 13 at Mackay Park in Batemans Bay, in what may be the most important game of 2022 Katrina Fanning Shield to date.

The UC Stars, Harden Worhawks and Boomanulla Raiders are all out of the race for the top five and will begin to focus on their upcoming bottom four series.
