NSW Cup & Jersey Flegg Round 20 Preview

The Canberra Raiders NSW Cup and Jersey Flegg teams will take part in a huge double header at Raiders Belconnen this Saturday, with both sides looking to push into the top four.

The NSW Cup side will take on the St. George Illawarra Dragons in a crucial top eight clash, with kickoff at 3:00pm.

The Raiders will be hoping to avoid a third straight loss after suffering back to back defeats to the Mounties and Bulldogs.

It was a disappointing result for the Raiders last week, as they jumped out to a 22-0 lead before the Bulldogs produced a second half comeback.

Despite the loss there were still some great individual performances, including Matt Frawley who showed brilliance as he scored a try and set up another.

There have been a few changes to the side for this weekend, including Sione Vuki starting at fullback in place of Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad who has been named in the NRL reserves.

Semi Valemei returns to the centres after recovering from a knee injury and Mitchell Spencer has been named in the halves to partner Brad Schneider.

The Raiders now sit in sixth place on the competition ladder and are just one point outside the top four.

Meanwhile, the Dragons currently sit in eighth spot and are four points clear of the ninth place Knights.

The Dragons will be coming into the match with a great amount of confidence after picking up a 24-22 win against Newcastle last week.

The Raiders haven't played the Dragons this season so it will provide a great test for both teams.

It should be a great match at Raiders Belconnen on Saturday, as both sides look to keep their spot in the top eight.

The Jersey Flegg side will also take on the Dragons this Saturday, with kickoff prior to NSW Cup at 1:20pm.

The Raiders Flegg side will also be hoping to bounce back after suffering a loss to the Bulldogs at GIO Stadium last round.

Both teams showed great attack with 66 total match points being scored. Despite the loss, winger Manase Kaho starred with a double and another great performance from Sione Vuki has earned him a spot in the NSW Cup side.

Thomas Casey will start at fullback for Vuki and Jacob Church, Deakin Bright, Temple Beauchamp, Campbell Woolnough and Noah Saddler will all lineup for the green machine.

The Dragons also suffered a loss last week and have fallen to third on the ladder, so both teams will be looking to get back into the winners circle.

The Raiders currently sit in seventh on the ladder, one win ahead of the ninth placed Sea Eagles and one win behind the fourth placed Panthers.

With the competition so close, both sides will see this match as a massive chance to cement themselves in the top eight.
