NSW Cup and Jersey Flegg Round 22 Preview

The Canberra Raiders NSW Cup and Jersey Flegg sides will travel to Leichhardt Oval this Sunday to take on the Magpies and Tigers respectively in round 22 action.

The Raiders NSW Cup side will take on the Western Suburbs Magpies with kick-off at 2:00pm on Sunday.

The Raiders will be desperate to avoid a fifth straight loss which included a narrow loss to the Rabbitohs last weekend.

Despite the loss, both Corey Horsburgh and Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad were great for the green machine by proving to be a point of difference in both attack and defence.

The Raiders have fallen to seventh on the ladder, one point ahead of the eighth placed Dragons, but still have a chance to finish top four with a strong run home.

Meanwhile, the Magpies will also be hungry to put in a good performance after suffering a heavy 56-6 defeat to the Panthers last Saturday.

The Magpies currently sit 11th on the competition ladder with no hopes of finals but will be looking to spoil the party for others heading into the finals.

The Raiders and Magpies met in round three earlier this season and it was the green machine who enjoyed their first win of the season with a 47-24 victory.

There is no doubt that both sides have improved from so early on in the season and with the race to finals upon us, this should be one cracking game on Sunday.

The Raiders Jersey Flegg side will take on the Wests Tigers with kick-off at 12:00pm, just prior to the NSW Cup match.

The Raiders have been in great form in the past month, winning three of their last four matches and will be hoping to make it three straight wins on Sunday.

The Flegg side also sit seventh on the competition ladder and are one of three teams tied on 24 competition points.

Not much separates the ladder as the Raiders only sit two points behind the third placed Tigers which could set up a crazy final month as we head into finals.

The Tigers will be desperate to hold onto that top four spot and are also aiming to secure a third straight victory.

Both sides met in round three earlier this year and it was the Tigers who picked up a narrow 26-18 win in what was a very physical battle.

You can expect more of the same on Sunday in a game that will have a huge impact on the ladder come the end of the season.

It will be a exciting day of footy at Leichhardt Oval on Sunday.
