Wheelchair Rugby League headlines Grand Opening of Griffith Regional Sports Centre

Canberra Region Wheelchair Rugby League were front and centre, alongside Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, to celebrate the grand opening of the new Griffith Regional Sports Centre on Saturday morning.

In what was a huge success for regional and community sport, CRWRL were privileged to be apart of the grand opening of the $31.9 million dollar facility, which plays a significant role in the strategic plan of our inclusion program.

CRWRL partnered with Griffith City Council and Intereach to hold come and try events across both Friday and Saturday, where over 500 people jumped in a wheelchair to get involved in the sport.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese was present for the official opening of the new facility and even jumped in a wheelchair to show support to our growing sport.

This event provides stability within the Riverina region as CRWRL continue to expand towards launching a brand new four-team competition for the 2023 Autumn season.

CRWRL will be headed to Bathurst to host a three-day event in a fortnight's time to further promote the inclusion program.
