Junior Reps Wrap: Round Four

The Raiders SG Ball, Tarsha Gale and Harold Matthews sides all recorded victories at Raiders Belconnen over the weekend after a stunning display of high-scoring games all round.

SG Ball Cup

The Raiders SG Ball side have continued their undefeated streak and remain top of the table after defeating Western Suburbs Magpies in a 40-12 point victory on Saturday.

The team got out of the gates quickly after a try from Jaxon Lavender in just the second minute of the game, sparking a seven try thriller in a Raiders domination.

The Raiders took advantage of two late sin bins to Magpies Zakauri Clarke and Tallyn Da Silva in the 64th and 65th minute respectively, scoring two tries in the final four minutes of the game to solidify their spot on the top of the table.

Forward Joseph Roddy and winger Ryan Woolley each scored a try in the final four minutes of the game after the double sin-bin from the Magpies left them stretched with 11 players on the field.

Keahn Skipps kicked well with the boot, converting six out of the seven tries scored on the day, even converting a try of his own in the 11th minute.

The SG Ball side will now look to continue this winning streak when they face the Eels at Raiders Belconnen in Canberra next weekend.

Harold Matthews Cup

The Harold Matthews Cup side have retained their top spot on the table after defeating Western Suburbs Magpies 28-14 in a contest that saw both teams fight hard for the victory.

Raiders took the lead early with a converted try to Harry Hudson in the 4th minute of the game, however, the Magpies scored back-to-back tries to lead 10-6 early in the half.

In an attempt to reclaim the lead, Raiders found their rhythm scoring 22 unanswered points to lead 28-10 with less than 30 minutes left.

Magpies then scored shortly after but ultimately Raiders prevailed and took home the win at Raiders Belconnen on Saturday.

A solid performance from the Raiders will put them in good stead heading into next weekend’s game against sixth placed Eels.

Tarsha Gale Cup

Raiders Belconnen played host to a thrilling win by the Tarsha Gale Cup side, defeating Wests Tigers 44-4 in a game that saw Raiders score 34 unanswered points in the second half.

In an eight-try-to-one affair, Raiders fought hard, taking the lead in the 16th minute thanks to a try from Aaliyah Lomas which was converted by Mya McGlynn.

A Lara Cosgrove hat-trick led an inspiring win in Canberra, with doubles from both Aaliyah Lomas and Georgia Willey respectively.

Raiders went into the sheds at half time with a 10-nil lead, hoping to build on their first-half performance and put the game to bed.

And that they did, clicking into gear and scoring six tries in the second half, solidifying their top-four spot on the ladder.

This is now their second win in a row in which the team will take a lot of confidence from leading into their game against the Eels in back-to-back home games at Raiders Belconnen, Canberra.
