NSW Cup & Jersey Flegg Round 23 Preview

The Raiders NSW Cup and Jersey Flegg teams will be looking to continue their flurry of wins heading into the pointy end of the season as they take on the Western Suburbs Magpies and Wests Tigers respectively.

NSW Cup

The Raiders NSW Cup team will look to carry the momentum of their 36-24 win over the Newcastle Knights last weekend against the Magpies on Saturday afternoon.

The Raiders snapped their two game losing streak last weekend, scoring seven tries in an important win for the team as they continue their surge towards finals football.

The Magpies suffered a 18-point loss to the Rabbitohs last weekend and will be on the road as the Raiders host back-to-back home games at Raiders Belconnen.

The ladder remains increasingly tight as the Raiders, who currently sit in eighth place, are two points away from second place with four rounds remaining.

The Raiders will need to ensure they give maximum effort against the Magpies as they went down to the Magpies 26-18 earlier in the season.

Both sides have changes to their teams ahead of Saturday’s game with the Raiders’ James Schiller shifting back to centre as Jed Stuart returns to the starting side on the wing.

Adrian Trevilyan has been called up to the NRL side to take on the Tigers, therefore Hohepa Puru fills the vacant hooker spot.

Mitchell Spencer shifts to lock whilst Luke Webley comes into the second row at number 11.

As for the Magpies, Liam Scolari comes into the wing position and Zane Camroux fills the five-eighth spot.

The match between Raiders and Magpies will take place at 3:00pm at Raiders Belconnen this Saturday.
