NSW Cup & Jersey Flegg Round 26 Preview

It's the final round of the regular season in the NSW Cup and Jersey Flegg competitions, with the Cup team needing to win their final game in order to play finals footy next week.

NSW Cup

The Raiders NSW Cup team take on the Bears at North Sydney Oval on Sunday in what is a must win match for the side.

Currently sitting in fourth spot on the ladder, the Raiders are just two points ahead of eighth place.

With only this round remaining, a win would secure a top five finish for the side and they would play finals.

The Raiders are coming off the back on an impressive 40-12 win over the Bulldogs last weekend, with Xavier Savage scoring a hat-trick and Hohepa Puru recording the most run metres and tackles with 162 and 39 respectively.

A couple of changes had been made to the team this week. Peter Hola has been named to start at prop, replacing Pasami Saulo, with Loghan Lewis the new face on the bench.

The Raiders are taking on the North Sydney Bears, who are sitting on top of the competition ladder.

Despite going down to the Panthers last week 26-18, the Bears have been in great form having won seven of their last eight games.

The Raiders and Bears played each other back in round two this season, with the Bears winning on that occasion 24-18.

Kick off for the clash is 2:00pm Sunday August 27 at North Sydney Oval.

This game is also the match of the round on NSWRL TV and will be live-streamed on the NSWRL Facebook page.

Jersey Flegg

The Raiders Jersey Flegg side play their last match of the season on Saturday when they take on the Storm at AAMI Park on Saturday.

Despite their strong second half of the season, the Raiders currently sit in eighth place and are unable to make finals.

They will be looking to finish their season off strongly this weekend and are coming off a 32-10 win over the Bulldogs last round.

A few changes to the side ahead of Saturday's clash for the Raiders. Regan Carr has been named at fullback, with Siamani Leuluai shifting to centre.

Owen Pattie will start at five-eighth and Shaun Packer at hooker.

The Raiders take on the Storm, who defeated the Panthers last weekend.

Josiah-Ekkehard Neli has been named on the bench for the Storm in the only change to the side.

The Raiders and Storm played each other in back in round six this season, with the Storm winning that game 26-8.

Kick off for the clash is 12:30pm Saturday August 26 at AAMI Park, Melbourne.
