Katrina Fanning Shield: Week Two Finals Preview

The stage is set for an entertaining weekend of KFS footy as we get to the tip of the season, with a semi-final, and a grand final on our hands, the Shield is up for grabs.

Tier 1

Gungahlin Bulls v West Belconnen Warriors

It is do or die this week for the Bulls and Warriors, as second place takes on third where the winner will earn a spot in the final and face off with the top of the table Yass Magpies.

Gungahlin are coming off the back of a 22-6 loss against Yass, and will look to redeem themselves this week and prove why they deserve their grand final ticket.

Belconnen are the underdogs this week, having not won since round five they will look to fly under the radar this week and cause a huge upset over the Bulls.

The last time this pair met, Gungahlin proved too strong, defeating the Warriors 52-24 in round six.

Tier 2

Harden Worhawks v Queanbeyan Blues

Harden have earned their spot in the grand final off the back of their dominant 2023 campaign and are set to take on the Queanbeyan Blues in a clash that could go either way.

The Worhawks have had a successful 2023 season, finishing the year second on the ladder and finding form at the perfect time.

Harden have won their last two games convincingly, defeating Tuggeranong 38-6, and the Blues 32-12.

Despite falling short to the Worhawks in their last encounter, Queanbeyan will look to put it all behind them and bounce back this week in the most important game of the year.

The Blues will be feeling confident after comfortably defeating the Bushies 28-8 last round to secure their spot in the grand final.

This final could go either way on Saturday with both sides feeling confident after securing a win last round, it is anyone’s game.
