The Goulburn City Bulldogs are set for a big year in the Canberra Raiders Cup and Katrina Fanning Shield, looking to build on the strong seasons they had in all senior competitions in 2023.

Goulburn narrowly missed out on the first grade finals series last year, finishing the regular season in fifth.

Bulldogs player Isaac Walker says they need to focus on "doing the simple things right" to improve on where they finished in 2023.

"If we can focus on doing the little things right, completing sets and really grinding games out, that’s where we think we’re going to have a lot of success," said Walker.

"I think we didn’t do that very well last year, we sort of went away from our structures".

“We just want to go one further, make it in the finals and then go from there”.

After being split into Tier 1 of the KFS and competing with the top teams, Goulburn player Elly Hazelton says “we had a good foundation last year, so hopefully we’re going to bring it back and be even stronger this year”.

“We’re really excited, we’ve got a good squad in preseason, so we’re just really focused on bringing that energy and the game that we know that we can play," said Hazelton.

Goulburn League Tag player Annie Croker wants to make it to the grand final this year, after getting knocked out in the preliminary in 2023.

“Hopefully, we go one better than we did last year, I feel like we just fell short and let ourselves down," Croker said.

“We’ve actually got a fairly new team so it’ll be good to see how we shape up this year”.

The Goulburn City Bulldogs have the Bye in round one and look ahead to their round two fixture against the Yass Magpies.
