The Gungahlin Bulls aim for a "big turnaround" in First Grade, while they look to go one further than last year in the Katrina Fanning Shield and League Tag.

It was a tough season for Gungahlin in the 2023 first grade competition, as they picked up three wins to their 13 losses to finish second to last on the ladder.

Bulls player Travis Vawdon is confident his side will have an improved season in 2024.

“It’s been a big turnaround this year, we’ve been focusing more on our ball skills and our defence, I think it’s going to be a much better year," said Vawdon.

When asked about what the side hope to achieve this year, Vawdon said “definitely the top four, and the grand final will be bonus points”.

After falling short in the preliminary final of the KFS last year, Gungahlin player Amelia Kiriui says “we’re all getting around each other, supporting each other, and making the extra effort to be better for this year’s season”.

Bulls League Tag player Matisse McNair touched on her excitement about the future of Gungahlin League Tag and the teams focus and goals for the season.

“We’ve got a really new team this year, I think that’s super exciting, it just shows the growth the Bulls are heading in," McNair said.

"We've had eighteen girls at preseason the past few trainings, which I think is absolutely fantastic, it shows the commitment and dedication.

“Focus at the moment is upskilling, getting those younger girls through, teaching them the ropes of the games and then go from there”.

The Gungahlin Bulls come up against the Queanbeyan Blues in round one of the Canberra Raiders Cup and Katrina Fanning Shield at Seiffert Oval.
