She Devils continue good run

The Crookwell She Devils will head into the June long weekend bye with their tails up following a convincing 18-8 win over the North Canberra Bears on Saturday.

Playing their Round Seven match at Crookwell Memorial Oval, Shauna Fleming crossed for a double while Tahnee-Lee Della and Kayla Gann scored as the Green Devils won four tries to two.

Crookwell has been in flying form in recent weeks and hasn’t lost a game since losing to Cootamundra 28-4 in Round Two.

The She Devils defeated Boorowa 12-10, UC Stars 36-nil, Bungendore 22-nil and drew with Harden 16-all before knocking over North Canberra.

The result means Crookwell remains in third place on the competition ladder, level on points with the second-placed Cootamundra Bullettes, and only a game behind the top-of-the-table Harden Hawkettes.

It was another close round of George Tooke Shield league tag action, and Harden defeated Binalong in their local derby, with the Hawkettes getting up 30-14 at Binalong Recreation Oval.

Cootamundra held off a spirited Boorowa outfit, winning 16-6 at Les Boyd Oval.

In the battle of the bottom sides, Bungendore got off the mark and kept the UC Stars winless, emerging triumphant in an epic encounter, 12-10, at Mick Sherd Oval.

Bears bite down on Green Devils

The Crookwell Green Devils couldn’t emulate the feats of their She Devil counterparts at Crookwell Memorial Oval on Saturday, going down to the Bears 26-14 in Round Seven of the George Tooke Shield men’s tackle competition.

The struggling Devils had won just a single game heading into Saturday’s fixture, and they took on a Bears side also chasing their second win of the 2024 season.

The Bears were too strong at the finish, winning five tries to three in cold conditions.

In other Round Seven results, it was a 17-try demolition in Bungendore.

At the Mick Sherd Oval, the Tigers, led by the triumphant trio of Sam West, Carl Johnson, and Josh Baker, showcased their dominance with a resounding 92-nil victory over the UC Stars, leaving the audience in awe of their performance.

Cootamundra also fired when defeating reigning premiers, Boorowa, 36-16.

Playing at Les Boyd Oval, the Bulldogs proved they mean business in 2024.

With only one loss to their name, they are equal on points with the ladder-leading Bungendore.

In the match of the round, rivals Binalong and Harden played out an epic contest at Binalong Recreation Oval, but the Hawks beat the Brahmans 14-10.

Harden has now won four on the trot, while Binalong suffered their second successive loss.
