Jersey Flegg Cup: Round 2 Preview

Round two of the Jersey Flegg Cup kicks off this weekend with the Raiders hosting the Silktails at GIO Stadium on Saturday night.

The Raiders had a great start to their season with a big 50-4 win over the Warriors last weekend.

Coach Jordan Macey was thoroughly impressed with the win.

“It was a good start to the season; it was good to get out there and play some footy,” Macey said.

The Raiders have had a dominant run against the Silktails but will be looking to continually show they are premiership contenders this season.

“I think we will keep trying to improve on some of the areas we weren’t great on last week, and that will be our main focus this game.”

The recent introduction of the Silktails has been exciting for not only the coaching staff but the players as-well

“I said to the boys the other night, this is why you play footy, especially with the NRL boys having a great win in Vegas, it created a real buzz.

Now the boys can play at GIO before the Raiders against an international team, these are the games you get really excited about”.

Although having a dominant season last year, Macey is aiming to take the Raiders to another level in 2025.

“We are going to take every game as it come, but hopefully all the boys can play to their potential, and we can set ourselves up for a big season.”

Canberra were the Jersey Flegg Cup minor premiers in 2024 and will be looking for revenge after their preliminary final loss to Cronulla in the finals series.

The Raiders remain unchanged after their dominant performance against the Warriors.

Meanwhile, the Silktails also remain unchanged after their loss against Parramatta.

The Raiders and Silktails came up against each other twice last season with the Raiders taking both wins.
