Raiders NRLW winger Shakiah Tungai (Raider #13) has decided she will sit out the 2025 NRLW season.
Tungai, who has played in the club’s first two NRLW seasons, has decided to take some time away from the game.
“After careful and thoughtful consideration, I have decided to step away from the upcoming season to focus on some personal commitments,” Tungai said.
“I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the club, my coaches Bortho and Uncle Kenny, my teammates, our amazing staff and supporters for your dedication and encouragement.
“I want to wish the team continued success and I can't wait to watch the girls rip in."
Raiders NRLW coach Darrin Borthwick said the club wishes Tungai all the best for the year ahead.
“Shak has been a valuable member of our team since our inaugural season and will be missed. She’ll always be Raider #13,” Borthwick said.
“For us at this club it’s about the player first and family. Shak is in a happy place and has made the decision to not play footy this season. The thing for us is that we didn’t want to stand in her way and talk her around into playing another year.
“She’s made the decision and she’s very happy. Obviously given the timing with the squad coming together pretty quickly, both of us worked out what was best for each other and it happened rather quickly.”
