NSW Cup & Jersey Flegg: Round 12 Preview

This weekend marks the 12th round of the Knock-On Effect NSW Cup and the Jersey Flegg Cup which will see both Raiders teams holding down the fort at Seiffert Oval as they host the Dragons.

The Knock-On Effect NSW Cup

After a dominant performance at Henson Park last weekend, our NSW Cup Raiders walked away with a 30-18 victory over the Newtown Jets and will be eager to keep the momentum rolling.

Relentless effort from our forward pack kept the Raiders level with the Jets in a tightly contested first half. A standout performance came from prop Trey Mooney, picking himself up a crucial try to ignite the second half.

However, the star of the game was second-rower Noah Martin who was unstoppable at the line, opening the scoring for the Raiders and earning himself an NRL debut this weekend against the Warriors.

This weekend, a slightly altered squad will meet the Dragons at home at Raiders Belconnen – giving some new players a shot a cementing their spot in the squad.

Around the Origin period, coach Chris Lewis will be looking to fill some gaps in the side as a few players move up to first grade.

In the backline, Jensen Taumoepeau has been named to start on the wing after starting on the bench against Newtown. Chevy Stewart may potentially come into the NSW Cup side after being named in the extended NRL squad.

In the forwards, Vena Patuki-Case will start at prop, making his first appearance since round five and lining up alongside Mitchell Prest. Shaun Packer will start at hooker this week after standout performances against the Jets and the Warriors the week prior.

The Raiders face an in-form Dragons side, sitting at second on the ladder and who are also coming off a win last round against the Bears.

Kick off for this clash is at 3:00pm on Sunday at Seiffert Oval.

Jersey Flegg

Meanwhile, our Jersey Flegg boys have been looking strong this season, currently sitting at fifth on the ladder.

Their last clash was a narrow victory against the Warriors in Round 10 after a high scoring showdown saw our boys emerge victorious.

They’ll take on the eighth-placed Dragons this weekend, with both sides well rested after a league-wide bye round last week.

The Dragons haven’t tasted victory since round nine, when they shut down the Tigers with a 56-18 scoreline. Naturally, they’ll be looking to find their footing and bounce back this weekend.

Kick off for this clash is at 1:00pm on Sunday at Seiffert Oval.
