NSW Cup & Jersey Flegg: Round 17 Preview

The Canberra Raiders’ NSW Cup and Jersey Flegg sides will both travel to Newcastle to take on the Knights this Friday and Saturday.

Knock-On Effect NSW Cup

The Raiders’ NSW Cup side will be looking to bounce back after a loss against the Bulldogs in Belmore last weekend.

Coach Chris Lewis switches up the line up slightly this week with Jordan Martin named at prop, Kain Anderson moving to fullback and Jaxon Lavender playing in the centre.

The Raiders currently sit 10th on the ladder in what has been a mixed season, with five wins and 10 losses.

The Knights had a narrow loss against the Eels 28-24 last week and currently sit last on the ladder.

Both teams will be looking for a win as they attempt to claw their way back into the top eight.

Jersey Flegg Cup

The Jersey Flegg Raiders side remain on top of the ladder after a strong 24-16 win against the Bulldogs at Belmore last Saturday.

It was a tight game with the Bulldogs taking a 16-6 lead at half-time, but the Raiders were able to mount a comeback with three unanswered tries in the second half to secure the win.

This week coach Jordan Macey brings Mutua Brown to fullback, Luke Tuialii to centre, Cooper Johnston to winger and Jalen Afamasaga at five-eighth.

The Knights also bagged a win on the weekend, defeating the Eels 26-22 in Kellyville holding them 11th on the ladder.

Canberra will be looking to grab their eighth consecutive win, while the Knights will be hoping to disrupt their flow so they can force their way into the top 10.
