Katrina Fanning Shield: Round 17 Wrap

Round 17 of the Blumers Lawyers Katrina Fanning Shield saw two exhilarating games, with the highlight a side claiming their first win of the season.

Goulburn City Bulldogs 24 def. Tuggeranong Bushrangers 10

The Goulburn City Bulls claimed their inaugural win of the 2025 season against the Tuggeranong Bushrangers at Greenway Oval on Saturday morning.

Fullback Katelyn Staples led from the front for the visitors, as she crossed for a double, whilst dummy half Shaelee Tobin also chipping with two tries.

In what was a tough morning for the home side with the Bushrangers trailing the Bulldogs for the entirety of the contest.

The Bulldogs will search for back-to-back wins next weekend when they face the Woden Valley Rams away from home, whilst the Bushrangers have a bye before facing the Magpies in the final game of the season.

Belconnen United Sharks 24 def. Yass Magpies 10

The Belconnen United Sharks secured their eighth win of the season against the Yass Magpies at home last weekend.

Eliza Taylor crossed for two tries in the home sides victory, which sees the Sharks keep their chances of a top two finish alive.

Meanwhile, for the Magpies their hopes of a finals berth becomes that little bit tougher after the loss as they still remain one win outside of the top four.

The Sharks will look for revenge next weekend against the West Belconnen Warriors next weekend, while the Magpies have the bye before a massive clash against the Tuggeranong Bushrangers which will decide their finals fate.
