Canberra Raiders Cup: Round 18 Wrap

The penultimate round of the Blumers Lawyers Canberra Raiders Cup saw the finals contenders rise to the top and claim important wins in their finals push.

West Belconnen Warriors 50 def. Belconnen United Sharks 22

The West Belconnen Warriors claimed a comprehensive win against the Belconnen United Sharks on Sunday afternoon.

In a nine try effort it was the halves of the Warriors which led from the front as Caleb Edwards scored two tries, while Ryan McQueen scored one and had a hand in two others.

It was a tough afternoon for the Sharks, with the side being reduced to twelve on two separate occasions and suffering their ninth loss in the process.

West Belconnen will face the Gungahlin Bulls at Raiders Belconnen next weekend and a win will ensure they secure a home final, while the Belconnen United Sharks welcome the Woden Valley Rams to NSWRL HQ for their last game of the season.

Queanbeyan Kangaroos 38 def. Gungahlin Bulls 22

Queanbeyan Kangaroos have secured the 2025 Canberra Raiders Cup Minor Premiership with a sixteen-point win over the Gungahlin Bulls.

Josh Ayers continued his impressive try scoring season with two tries on the edge, whilst Kaine Pagura added a further two to his tally which sees him one back of the top try scorer.

Despite the loss, the Bulls stayed with the two-time premiers for the second time this year and will be pleased with their effort, as they were within two points with 25 minutes remaining.

The Kangaroos travel to Goulburn to face the Bulldogs in their final regular season game, whilst the Bulls will look to spoil the Warriors chances of a home final at Raiders Belconnen.

Woden Valley Rams 30 def. Goulburn City Bulldogs 18

The Woden Valley Rams have kept their finals chances alive with a comprehensive win against the Goulburn City Bulldogs at home.

In a must win scenario the Rams started slowly, conceding the first try, however bounced back quickly scoring five of the next seven tries.

While a tough afternoon as a team, the Bulldogs celebrated Tyson Greenwood's 150th game with the front rower crossing over for a try.

The Rams will need to beat the Sharks next week and hope the Bushrangers fall against the Magpies to feature in the finals, while the Bulldogs welcome the Kangaroos to Workers Arena in their last game of the season.

Queanbeyan Blues 24 def. Yass Magpies 14

The Queanbeyan Blues defeated the Yass Magpies away from home on Saturday afternoon securing second spot and the double chance in the process.

A slow start for the visitors saw them trail 6-0 at the break, however four tries to two in the second half to Queanbeyan ensured that they walked away with the two points.

Kaiden Bell was the best for the Magpies with the five eighth scoring two tries on the afternoon in what was a performance which would feel the Yass fans with pride; however, it seems them suffer their twelve defeat of the season.

The Queanbeyan Blues will have the bye in the washout round which will provide them with a much-needed rest before finals, whilst the Magpies will look to spoil the Bushrangers finals chances at Greenway Oval.
