Zahara has been actively involved with Karinya House, a Canberra-based not-for-profit that provides 24/7 accommodation and wraparound support to women who are pregnant or parenting and experiencing crisis. Through her support, Zahara helps shine a light on the importance of safe spaces and community care for women and children.
Zahara’s dedication to community is second nature to her, from sharing her story and time with those doing it tough, to encouraging others to step up and make a difference.
Zahara mentions that "There’s always work to be done in our communities", reflecting upon her career Zahara also explains that we can use our "platform for something bigger than footy… The game will end one day, but the impact you leave in someone’s life can last a lifetime.”
As part of her ongoing support, Zahara is also encouraging Raiders fans to get involved in the 2025 Walk for Hope, a fundraising event for Karinya House, held on Sunday 14 September around Lake Burley Griffin. Find our more about Walk for Hope Here.
These are just some of the ways Zahara is making a real impact beyond the game and why she’s so deserving of this recognition.
