Katrina Fanning Shield: Round 18 Wrap

Round 18 of the Blumers Lawyers Canberra Raiders Cup saw an upset victory that ensured the race for the minor premiership entered the final round of the season.

Woden Valley Rams 40 def. Goulburn City Bulldogs 4

The Woden Valley Rams secured a comprehensive win against the Goulburn City Bulldogs to keep their hopes of a minor premiership alive.

In an eight tries to one performance, the Rams draw level on points with the Warriors entering the final round of the season, winger Gypsy Brookman and back rower Kaliyah Smith crossed for two tries each.

Felicity McEwan scored the Bulldogs only try of the morning, in what was their last game of the season as they have the bye next weekend.

The Rams face the Belconnen United Sharks next weekend in a match which will have massive finals ramifications, if the Rams win, they lock in a second chance and potentially the minor premiership, but a loss will see them play off in an elimination final.

Belconnen United Sharks 28 def. West Belconnen Warriors 16

The Belconnen United Sharks claimed a significant victory in their top two aspirations against their local rivals in the West Belconnen Warriors.

Lead by dummy half, Halle Constable who scored two tries, the Sharks move within one spot of the top two with one round remaining in the competition.

Meanwhile, for the Warriors the loss is their first of the season and could come at the right time with finals right around the corner, front rower Crystal Papalii added a sixth try to her season tally.

The Warriors will secure the minor premiership next weekend with a win against the Bulls, whilst the Sharks can finish inside the top two if they defeat the Rams.
