The Canberra Raiders NRL and NRLW teams are representing local teams from the Canberra Region Rugby League this week as part of Telstra Footy Country Round.

The Raiders NRL team wore the socks of the Tuggeranong Buffaloes junior rugby league club at training this week, while the NRLW team will wear the socks of the Belconnen United Sharks junior rugby league in their round eight match against the Bulldogs at Belmore Sports ground on Saturday.

Both teams were selected as part of a competition the Raiders ran in the lead into Telstra Footy Country Round and were chosen to be represented by each team.

NRL: Tuggeranong Buffaloes Junior RLFC

This year, the Tuggeranong Buffaloes Junior Rugby League Football Club celebrates its 50th anniversary, marking half a century of contribution to grassroots rugby league in the ACT. To honour this milestone, the club has launched a special edition anniversary kit featuring its original brown and gold colours, a proud nod to its rich heritage.

NRLW: Belconnen United Sharks Junior Rugby League

The Belconnen United Sharks are one of the largest and most rapidly growing junior rugby league clubs in the Canberra region, with more than 500 registered junior players, growing from 236 participants in 2022 to 589 participants in 2025. The club proudly leads the ACT in female participation, being the first to surpass 200 registered female players, now reaching 220 and making a significant contribution to the growth and development of women’s rugby league.
