The regular season of the Katrina Fanning Shield concluded in last week washout round, with two teams claiming important wins which decided the makeup of the top four.
West Belconnen Warriors 44 def. Gungahlin Bulls 24
The West Belconnen Warriors secured the 2025 Blumers Lawyers Katrina Fanning Shield minor premiership with a comprehensive win over the Gungahlin Bulls on Saturday.
Warriors lock Aliyah Lomas starred for the home side, crossing the line on five separate occasions in the sides eight tries to five victory.
Meanwhile, for the Bulls the loss spells the end of their 2025 campaign, falling just short finishing in fifth position.
The Warriors will prepare for a mouthwatering major semi-final against their rivals in the Belconnen United Sharks at Seears Workwear Oval at 12:00pm on Saturday.
Yass Magpies 18 def. Tuggeranong Bushrangers 10
The Yass Magpies booked their ticket to the 2025 finals series with a tight eight-point victory against the Tuggeranong Bushrangers at Greenway Oval.
Needing to win, the Magpies produced a professional performance with tries to White, Horne and Frost enough to ensure they get the chance to defend their title.
Meanwhile, for the Bushrangers the 2025 season was an improved one from last year as they pushed the top four teams in every encounter they had.
The Magpies prepare for a do or die showdown this weekend against the Woden Valley Rams at Raiders Belconnen on Sunday afternoon.
Belconnen United Sharks 22 def. Woden Valley Rams 4
The Belconnen United Sharks have leap frogged the Rams into second position after a solid victory on the weekend.
Sharks centre Reese Paunovic impressed for the home side crossing for two tries in the victory, a victory which ensures they get two bites at the cherry in the final's series.
Unfortunately, for the Rams the loss sees them finish in third position and playing in an elimination final, the same game their 2024 season finished in.
The Sharks will look to gain entry into the 2025 Grand Final this weekend when they face the West Belconnen Warriors on Saturday, whilst the Rams take on the Magpies and go one better than last year's finish.
