KFS Team of the Year 2025: Halfback

Congratulations to Jay Huriwai (West Belconnen Warriors) for her selection as the halfback in the 2025 Katrina Fanning Shield Team of the Year. 

In her first year in the Katrina Fanning Shield, Huriwai hit the ground running for the Warriors playing a critical role in their quest for Premiership glory. 

Despite only playing nine games this season, the crafty number seven packed plenty into those games having her hands in everything positive for West Belconnen, which included scoring four tries and kicking 31 goals for a total of 78 points. 

Huriwai featured in the Team of the Week on five occasions throughout the regular season, however it was the Finals Series where she shined. 

After missing the Major Semi Final, Huriwai returned against the Rams in the Preliminary Final where she scored two tries, including the match sealer, before a player of the match performance in the Grand Final against the Sharks.
