With over ten years of tireless dedication to the sport, Jon has made it his mission to ensure that Rugby League is not just a game, but a tool for connection, confidence, and community.

As the ACT’s first NRL Platinum Teacher Ambassador, Jon has redefined what it means to be an educator involved in sport. His leadership has created countless opportunities for students to engage with the game, many for the very first time.

At Charles Conder Primary School, Jon leads by example. Whether it's running after-school clinics for Kindergarten to Year 2 students, coordinating All Abilities and Special Olympics programs, or supporting kids on the sidelines, Jon ensures that every child gets a go, regardless of their skill level or background.

Even when away from school on personal leave, Jon continues to plan and support sporting initiatives remotely, proof that his commitment runs deep and far beyond the school gates.

Outside of school hours, Jon wears multiple hats, he’s a junior league coach, an active participant in the Tackle Ready program, and plays a crucial role as secretary and educator liaison for School Sport ACT. Jon has also sat on the CRRL committee as the school’s representative for over 10 years, and in that time, participation in the region has more than doubled.

His school has become a hub for Rugby League activity, regularly hosting Raiders Blitz visits, League Stars programs, and player appearances, initiatives Jon personally supports and champions.

One moment that speaks volumes about Jon’s values came during the Sullivan Shield Primary Schools Gala Day, where he helped merge students from different schools to form new teams, ensuring no one was left on the sidelines simply because their school couldn't field a full side. It’s this kind of thinking, innovative, inclusive, and student-first, that defines Jon’s impact.

Through sport, Jon is building more than teams, he's building confidence, resilience, and a sense of belonging for kids who may otherwise miss out. His work continues to inspire fellow educators, students, families, and the broader Rugby League community throughout the Canberra region and beyond.

The Canberra Raiders thank and celebrate Jon for his leadership, heart, and the lasting legacy he’s creating in Rugby League.
