Congratulations to John Papalii (Woden Valley Rams) and Thomas Watego (Belconnen United Sharks) on their selection in the 2025 Canberra Raiders Cup Team of the Year.
#8 - John Papalii (Woden Valley Rams)
As the captain of the Woden Valley Rams, Papalii led from the front throughout the 2025 season with his performances.
After transferring to the Rams from the Blues, Papalii was appointed captain upon his arrival with his football rising to a new level with the added responsibility.
Known for his damaging hit ups and ability to keep his arms free and offload the footy, Papalii is a nightmare for opposition defenders requiring multiple tacklers to reduce his impact.
After finishing the season one point outside the top four, he will be determined next season to guide his outfit back into finals football.
#10 - Thomas Watego (Belconnen United Sharks)
As the inspirational leader of the Sharks, Watego led from the front in a difficult season for Belconnen United.
Featuring in every game this season, the front rower never missed a beat producing consistent performances week in and week out.
A popular member of the competition, Watego is well respected by his peers for his competitive playing style.
After a finals appearance in 2024 and missing out finals this season, he will play an integral role in the Sharks quest to return to the top four.
