The Canberra Raiders are pleased to announce the signing of Sheridan Gallagher for the next two NRLW seasons.
Gallagher joins the Raiders after three seasons with the Newcastle Knights, where she was their leading try-scorer each season, scoring 25 tries in her 32 NRLW games.
The 23-year-old was part of the Knights’ 2023 Premiership win in her first season of rugby league and was also named in the 2025 Dally M Team of the Year on the wing.
Gallagher is also a talented soccer player, having previously captained the Young Matildas at the FIFA Under 20 Women’s World Cup in 2022 and having played for the Western Sydney Wanderers and more recently the Newcastle Jets in the A-League Women competition.
Raiders NRLW Coach Darrin Borthwick said he is excited to have Gallagher join the club.
“Three years ago Sheridan was relatively new to the sport and she went and played a few games at Mounties our feeder club which was good and then took an option with Newcastle,” Borthwick said.
“She went up there and developed her game and when Sheridan was available it was a great opportunity to reconnect with her and give her the option to come down to the Raiders.
“To get someone of Sheridan’s calibre and that element of professionalism with the sport that she’s been in prior to rugby league is terrific. She’ll definitely add to our squad and we very much look forward to getting her here.”
Gallagher said she is excited to start her new chapter in Canberra and is looking forward to joining the team.
“I’m very keen to come down here to Canberra and take on a new challenge. It’s exciting to play with a new group of girls and to learn and build on what I’ve already got,” Gallagher said.
“I feel I’ve stepped out my comfort zone already a few times. This will obviously be another huge step for me but it’s a challenge I’m looking forward to.”
