Junior Reps Preview: Round Five

The Toyota Forklifts Canberra Raiders junior reps sides are back in action this Saturday at Raiders Belconnen in a quadruple header.

Westpac Lisa Fiaola Cup

The Canberra Raiders and Manly Sea Eagles junior girls will kick-off the weekend in the Lisa Fiaola Cup at Belconnen Oval.

The Raiders have climbed to eighth on the ladder after a tough draw against the Storm last weekend and need this win to hold their position in the top eight.

The Sea Eagles are currently 13th on the ladder and are coming in fresh off a bye, looking to win their first game of the season.

These teams have only come head-to-head once in the history of the competition,

with the Raiders dominating 24-8 and making it an interesting match-up.

Looks to be a competitive start to the day, with both teams fighting for a worthy position on the ladder.

Westpac Tarsha Gale Cup

The junior girls in the Tarsha Gale Cup will follow up with another decisive game against the Manly Sea Eagles.

The Raiders are currently sitting at 10th on the ladder, making this a must win game for a chance in the top eight.

The Raiders are coming off an impressive win again the Storm, beating them 26-14, whilst the Sea Eagles are returning from a bye with no wins on the board.

The Raiders have a two from two record against the Sea Eagles and look strong enough to hold them off and come home with another win.

UNE Harold Matthews Cup

The junior boys kick off at Belconnen Oval at 3pm, with the Canberra Raiders facing off against the North Sydney Bears in the Harold Matthews Cup.

The Raiders remain steady at ninth on the ladder, jumping up a place after their 32-10 win against the Storm last week.

The Bears are coming off a thrashing from the Panthers, losing by 54 points and just managing to keep themselves out of last place.

A win this week could be the opportunity the home side needs to make their way into the top eight and secure a spot in the finals.

With an unchanged side, the Raiders should be able to attack the line early and pull away to secure another win and prove they are a threat in the competition.

UNE SG Ball Cup

The Raiders and the Bears close out the day in the SG Ball Cup, their story mirroring the previous game.

The Raiders have once again climbed one position on the ladder, currently sitting at seventh whilst the Bears have dropped back to 14th. With five other teams surrounding the Raiders on four points, this is a must win for the home side to remain in the top eight and advance into the top four.

Stakes are high with both teams are coming off disappointing losses. With a five to one winning record against the Bears, the Raiders are looking to maintain their dominance over the Sydney side, whilst the Bears have a lost to prove as they aim to look competitive in the competition.

It will be a competitive match up to finish an exciting day of football in Canberra.
