It was a 50/50 split of results for the Toyota Forklifts Canberra Raiders Junior Representatives on Saturday in another quadruple header at Raiders Belconnen.
SG Ball Cup
The Raiders were defeated 24-16 after a second-half dominance from the North Sydney Bears in the SG Ball Cup.
Canberra made their mark early, scoring a try in the opening five minutes through halfback Jamie Cowling.
However, the contest took a turn when Bears forward Strantz Schuamkel was sent to the sin bin in the middle of the second half, giving Canberra a 13-12 player advantage.
Even though they had the advantage, the Raiders couldn't capitalise and Raiders forward Zildjian Tafili was sent to the sin bin in the closing minutes.
Canberra will now turn its attention to Round Six against the Roosters in Sydney.
Harold Matthews Cup
It was a close match for Canberra’s Harold Matthews Cup side on Saturday, with a two-point defeat against the Bears, 16-14.
The away side ended up clutching the first points of the match and kept that momentum going with a 10-4 lead in the break.
Canberra had a late resurgence in the second half and had the score locked at 14-all in the 45th minute.
However, the Bears emerged victorious after a penalty goal scored by hooker Xavier Kahika in the 58th minute.
Tensions boiled over in the final seconds, which saw Bears halfback Elijah Lowe, Canberra halfback Bailey Logue and fullback Thompson Hurford to end up in the sin bin.
The Raiders will look to bounce back next week against the Roosters.
Tarsha Gale Cup
The Raiders have gone back-to-back with a dominant 52-6 win over Manly.
Canberra laid on the points right from kick off with a 40-0 lead until Manly forward Lesieli Feofaaki Lama scored in the 45th minute.
Raiders fullback Ellie McCormack and five-eighth Adelaide Norris both had strong kicking games this week, with both players converting four tries each.
Canberra will look to continue their winning ways when they face the Roosters next week.
Lisa Fiaola Cup
The Raiders are back to their winning ways after a strong 34-6 win against Manly.
Canberra clutched the first points through a linebreak from centre Evie Perry, scoring in the opening five minutes.
Canberra fullback Saige Fattore also had a strong kicking game this week, converting five out of six tries, including one of her own.
Next week, the Raiders will look to go back-to-back against the Roosters.
