NSW Cup & Jersey Flegg: Round Two Preview

The Toyota Forklifts Canberra Raiders NSW Cup & Jersey Flegg sides are set to take on the New Zealand Warriors in Round Two of their respective competitions this Friday and Saturday.

Jersey Flegg Cup

The Raiders Jersey Flegg side will head into this Saturday's fixture off the back of a 38-30 win over the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles in Round 1.

Scoring seven tries in their opening fixture, the squad showed early they have no issue finding points, with both Sylas Simon and Malachi Smith nabbing two tries in their opening match of the season.

With all focus now on their fixture against the Warriors in Sydney, the Raiders will be searching for their fifth win on the trot over the New Zealand side.

The Warriors are also coming off a strong Round 1 performance, having taken down the Sydney Roosters 44-14 in their season opener.

The spine will once again play a key role for the Raiders, with the quartet of Saxon Innes, Braydan Darmody, Callum Dowell and Mitchell Brophy all having NRL level exposure from either the trial matches or pre-season training with the top squad.

With a combined 82 points from these two sides last week, expect plenty of attacking flair across the park in this week two matchup.

The Knock-On Effect NSW Cup

The Raiders NSW Cup side head across the ditch looking for redemption against the reigning competition premiers, following a narrow 28-26 defeat to the Sea Eagles in Round 1.

Though the home side will also be chasing their first win of the season, as the Warriors were beaten 48-14 last week by the Sydney Roosters.

After scoring two tries against Manly on the wing, Sione Finau shifts to the centres, welcoming Jed Stuart back into the side in the number five jersey.

2026 Raiders recruit Coby Black will look to build on his strong opening round, where the halfback assisted in two tries as well as two linebreaks.

A new-look forward pack will be on display for the green machine as Jake Clydsdale, Myles Martin and Malachi Smith earn a spot in the starting side.

Playing 73 minutes in Round 1 and scoring a four-pointer, hooker Owen Pattie remains a danger around the ruck, forcing the Warriors to keep a close eye on the number nine throughout the match.
