The Canberra District Rugby League and the Canberra Raiders would like to acknowledge the service of Mr John Pfeiffer who unfortunately passed away at the age of 92 years on Saturday 28 March 2026 after battling dementia.
John was a significant contributor to the Raiders Group across numerous voluntary roles, including but not limited to, General Committee Member of Queanbeyan United Rugby League Football Club, Board Member of the Queanbeyan Leagues Club, and he was current Patron of the Canberra District Rugby League.
Raiders Group General Manager Mr Simon Hawkins said that John was an incredibly positive person, who was great fun to spend time with, and that his contribution to the Raiders group will not be forgotten.
“John had an enormous influence on the Raiders group. He was a passionate advocator for the group to diversify, and he provided expert guidance in investments, as well as club developments. He had been a successful commercial builder, and he brought his experience, skill, and connections to the Raiders” recalled Mr Hawkins.
John’s family have confirmed that a funeral service will be held on Wednesday 8 April 2026 at 10:30am at Norwood Park Crematorium, 65 Sandford Street, Mitchell ACT.
