Canberra Raiders Cup: Round Two Wrap

Round Two of the Blumers Lawyers Canberra Raiders Cup saw tight contests and free flowing attacking Rugby League across the competition.

Belconnen United Sharks 38 def. Tuggeranong Bushrangers 18

The Belconnen United Sharks successful start to the season continued with a twenty-point victory against the Tuggeranong Bushrangers at home. 

Sharks centre Regan Carr continued his impressive try scoring form, crossing for a double in a contest where Belconnen United led for its entirety. 

For the Bushrangers, the loss is there second consecutive of the season, Paul Alofipo crossed for his second of the season, whilst Hardy Glover scored on club debut. 

The Sharks have the bye in Round Three, whilst the Bushrangers will look to claim their first win of the season against the Bushrangers. 

Queanbeyan Blues 38 def. Goulburn City Bulldogs 22

The Queanbeyan Blues premiership defence has officially started claiming their first win of the season against the Bulldogs in Goulburn. 

Jamie Mazzarol-Kotz starred for the visitors, crossing for a hat-trick of tries including a length of the field kick return which sealed the contest for the Blues. 

Whilst for the Bulldogs the loss is their first of the season and provides them with an understanding of where the stack up against last year's premiers, with plenty of positives able to be taken from the match. 

The Blues welcome the Kangaroos to Seiffert Oval in Round Three, whilst the Bulldogs head on the road for the first time to take on the Warriors. 

Queanbeyan Kangaroos 20 def. Yass Magpies 12 

The Kangaroos secured victory on the weekend in a tightly contested contest against the Magpies which went down to the wire at Walker Park. 

The match was set up in the first half by the visitors, with Queanbeyan scoring three tries in the opening half, including one from veteran Troy Whiley. 

The Bell brothers attempted to bring Yass back into the game, both crossing for a try, however it wasn't enough with the side falling short of a massive upset victory.

The Kangaroos will look to go 3-0 next Round against the Blues at Seiffert, whilst the Magpies face the Rams away from home. 

Woden Valley Rams 26 def. West Belconnen Warriors 14 

The Woden Valley Rams secured a massive win in their opening game of the season against the West Belconnen Warriors. 

After having a bye in Round One, the Rams started the season in spectacular fashion with a victory away from home, Josh Fattore starred for the visitors setting up a try and assisting another alongside impressive game management. 

Meanwhile, for West Belconnen the loss is their second of the season and whilst a double from Jstar Taupau tried to get them over the line, they fell just short. 

The Rams will look to go back-to-back next Round against the Yass Magpies, whilst the Warriors remain at home against the Goulburn City Bulldogs.
