NSW Cup & Jersey Flegg: Round Eight Preview

The Toyota Forklifts Canberra Raiders NSW and Jersey Flegg Cup sides will travel to Lidcombe Oval to take on the Magpies on ANZAC Day this Saturday.

Jersey Flegg Cup

The Raiders JF Cup side are aiming for four wins in a row, when they take on the Tigers in the first of a double header in Sydney.

Canberra have averaged 43 points in their last three games, showcasing their ability to score points quickly in patches.

This will be one of Canberra's toughest tests of the early season, facing the fourth placed Tigers.

Although they've had two early byes, the Tigers pose a 3-1 record and haven't lost at home yet this year.

Canberra have named an unchanged line-up from last week's 42-30 victory over the Storm and will look to carry some important momentum into the middle part of the season.

Knock-On Effect NSW Cup

The Raiders will look to make it two on the bounce this weekend, when they take on the Magpies in round eight of the NSW Cup.

Canberra claimed their first win of the season last weekend at Seiffert Oval, recording a comprehensive 48-12 win over the Melbourne Storm.

The opening 40 minutes was the best football the Raiders have played all season, leading the visitors 36-nil after playing some fluid football.

The spine of Ethan Alaia, Daine Laurie, Coby Black and Owen Pattie proved too classy as the Raiders look to finally find their groove to get some wins on the board.

They meet an equally desperate Magpies side, who currently sit tenth on the ladder and will be looking to get their season on-track.

The Magpies boast a number of players with NRL experience, in-which the Raiders will need to nullify in defence.

All eyes on will be on both sides and will come down to who can play consistent for the whole 80 minutes.
