NSW Cup & Jersey Flegg: Round Nine Wrap

The Toyota Forklifts Canberra Raiders Cup & Flegg sides travelled to Wentworth Park on Sunday to take on the Roosters, heading home with a win and a loss.

Knock On Effect NSW Cup

The Raiders NSW Cup side earned a strong 35-22 victory over the Roosters to round out Sunday's action.

The youth on show for the Raiders has been exciting as the Green Machine secured their third straight win.

Canberra's edges started fast with Kain Anderson claiming an early double and Mark Tuialii finding the tryline to lead 18-16 at the break.

Anderson continued to look dynamic as he claimed his hatrick early in the second half.

Roosters dummy-half Benaiah Ioelu crossed for a double as the home side looked to push the Raiders to the end.

But the Raiders hit back with two late tries to put themselves in the box seat to snatch their third straight win.

Canberra halfback Coby Black sealed the deal, snapping a field goal in the final minutes to secure the 35-22 win.

Jersey Flegg Cup

Canberra fell 28-20 to the Roosters on Sunday afternoon in the Jersey Flegg Cup.

Raiders half Callum Dowell got the visitors off to a flyer, scoring in the second minute to put the Raiders on the board first.

Roosters fullback Zac Sarfati hit straight back with a try double as they led the Raiders 18-12 at the halftime break.

Canberra re-gained a 20-18 lead heading into the final 20 minutes.

But it was all one-way traffic as the Roosters closed out a gritty win at home courtesy of a Lancelot Tovio try and a pair of penalty goals in the dying stages.

Both Raiders sides will return home for a triple header at GIO Stadium this Sunday afternoon against the Panthers.
