Canberra Raiders Cup: Round Six Wrap

In Round Six of the Blumers Lawyers Canberra Raiders Cup, the Queanbeyan Kangaroos remained undefeated and atop of the table, the Blues securing back-to-back wins, whilst the Bulldogs and Warriors returned back to the winners list. 

Queanbeyan Kangaroos 18 def. Belconnen United Sharks 10 

The Kangaroos claimed victory against the Sharks on the weekend in a tight, physical contest at Seears Workwear Oval to remain undefeated. 

In a top of the table clash, Captain Coach Adam Quinlan led from the front for the home side, scoring two tries, whilst Harlem Cooper impressed in the middle receiving the man of the match award. 

Meanwhile, for the Sharks the defeat is their first of the campaign, however they can gain confidence from being in the fight for majority of the afternoon, Zac Patch was strong in defence, whilst Tristan Eldridge had some class touches. 

Queanbeyan will be looking to go 7-0 next weekend against the West Belconnen Warriors, whilst the Sharks will look to bounce back against the Gungahlin Bulls. 

Queanbeyan Blues 38 def. Gungahlin Bulls 24 

The Queanbeyan Blues claimed back-to-back victories this weekend against the Gungahlin Bulls away from home last Saturday. 

With Captain Coach Dylan McLachlan out with injury, the Blues were looking for someone to stand up, and it was stand in Captain JJ Clarkson, who crossed for a try scoring double, including the try which sealed the two points for his side. 

Whilst for Gungahlin the loss is their fourth of the season, Kane Allan continued his try scoring form, crossing the stripe for a try, his fourth in two weeks. 

The Bulls will look to bounce back next weekend against the Belconnen United Sharks, whilst the Blues face the Rams in their 60th year celebration match. 

Goulburn City Bulldogs 28 def. Woden Valley Rams 18 

The Goulburn City Bulldogs returned to the winners circle this weekend with an impressive ten-point victory against the Woden Valley Rams. 

Despite being reduced to twelve men late in the first half, the Bulldogs showed incredible resilience to walk away with the two competition points, with former Rams Shammah Tiumalu and Tomasi Bikaca both scoring tries. 

For the Rams, they suffer back-to-back defeats after a positive start to the season, off season recruit Jackson Stuart crossed for one of their three tries. 

Woden Valley will be looking to bounce back this weekend against the Queanbeyan Blues in their 60th year celebration match, whilst the Bulldogs face the Magpies at Yass. 

West Belconnen Warriors 42 def. Tuggeranong Bushrangers 4 

The West Belconnen Warriors secured a comprehensive victory against the Tuggeranong Bushrangers at home claiming their second win of the season in the process. 

Club Captain Brandon Withers produced a strong performance for the home side, crossing the line on two occasions and kicking five goals for a total of 18 points. 

It was a tough afternoon for the depleted Bushrangers outfit, Bassy Johns providing Tuggeranong with their sole highlight. 

The Bushrangers have the bye in Round Seven to rest and reset, whilst the Warriors take on the undefeated Queanbeyan Kangaroos.
