Read Like a Raider Grand Final celebrates outstanding reading achievement

Last Friday, the Canberra Raiders and Kaleen Primary School celebrated the conclusion of the inaugural Read Like a Raider pilot program, with students recording an incredible 278,000 minutes of reading across the five-week challenge.

To mark the occasion, Raiders players visited the school for a special Grand Final celebration. NRLW players Lili Boyle, Hollie-Mae Dodd, Chloe Saunders and Zahara Temara joined NRL players Joe Roddy, Simi Sasagi and Jake Clydsdale to congratulate students and recognise their achievements.

Throughout the program, students were encouraged to build positive reading habits by reading regularly and tracking their progress. Their collective effort resulted in an impressive 278,000 minutes read, the equivalent of 3,475 full 80-minute rugby league matches.

The celebration gave students the chance to meet their Raiders heroes and reflect on their reading journey, while players shared the importance of commitment, perseverance and goal setting both on and off the field.

The success of the pilot program highlights the positive impact of combining sport and education to inspire young people and foster a lifelong love of reading. To keep up-to-date with this program's progress complete this link.

The Canberra Raiders would like to thank the students, staff and families of Kaleen Primary School for their enthusiasm and support in making the inaugural Read Like a Raider program such a success.
