Round 10 of the Blumers Lawyers Canberra Raiders Cup saw a new title contender emerge and sides outside the top four take massive steps forward in their quest for finals.
Belconnen United Sharks 18 def. Queanbeyan Blues 10
The Belconnen United Sharks have emerged as title contenders after a tight eight-point victory against the Queanbeyan Blues at home.
Despite trailing at the half-time interval, the Sharks staged a comeback victory in an all-round effort to ensure they secure second spot on the Canberra Raiders Cup ladder, Tommy Watego led from the front in the middle of the park scoring a try and securing the Queanbeyan Roos League Club Player of the Match.
Whilst for the Blues, the loss breaks a five-game win streak and is there second defeat against the Sharks this season, Komiti Tuilagi was the best for the away side creating havoc on the left edge.
The Sharks have a well earnt bye next weekend, whilst the Blues will prepare to bounce back against their cross-town rivals in the Queanbeyan Kangaroos.
Goulburn City Bulldogs 18 def. Gungahlin Bulls 16
The Bulldogs secured back-to-back victories on Saturday with a nail-biting two-point win against the Bulls at Gungahlin.
Goulburn City were reduced to twelve early in the second half and off the back of their defence claimed their fourth victory of the season which keeps them in touch with the top four.
Meanwhile, the task for the Bulls to qualify for finals has become harder with the side sitting bottom of the ladder and remain two wins outside the top four.
Gungahlin will be looking to bounce back against the Tuggeranong Bushrangers at home, whilst Goulburn strive for three straight wins when they take on the West Belconnen Warriors at home.
Tuggeranong Bushrangers 28 def. Queanbeyan Kangaroos 24
The Tuggeranong Bushrangers snatched victory from the jaws of defeat with a try in the dying stages against the Queanbeyan Kangaroos at Seears Workwear Oval.
Five eight Lachlan Buckley stared on debut for the visitors, with a double which included the match winner to ensure that the Bushrangers keep up with the chasing pack.
Whilst for the Kangaroos the loss is their second consecutive after an undefeated start to the season, Josh Ayers continued his try scoring form with back-to-back weeks which saw him cross the line.
The Bushrangers will search for back-to-back wins next weekend when they face the Gungahlin Bulls at home, whilst the Kangaroos face the Blues in the cross-town rival.
West Belconnen Warriors 34 def. Yass Magpies 10
The West Belconnen Warriors bounced out of the bye with a strong victory at home against the Yass Magpies.
Arthur Brown's impressive season continued with the lock forward crossing the try line on multiple occasions in the Warriors fourth win of the season which sees them sit in fifth position.
Meanwhile, for the Magpies the loss sees them remain in eighth position of the ladder, Kaiden Bell and Lane Davis continued to star for Yass both scoring a try in the defeat.
The Warriors travel to Goulburn for an important contest against the Bulldogs which will have massive finals ramifications, whilst the Magpies are at home against the Rams where they will celebrate their 2006 Premiership side.
