Katrina Fanning Shield: Round 12 Preview

After last weekend was postponed due to ground closures the Katrina Fanning Shield returns headlined by a top four matchup at Woden Park.

Queanbeyan Blues vs Yass Magpies, Saturday 11 July, Seiffert Oval, 10:40am 

The Queanbeyan Blues welcome the Yass Magpies to Seiffert Oval for the second time this season in what is sure to be an exciting matchup. 

The Blues enter this weekend off the back of a defeat at the hands of the Belconnen United Sharks, Courtney Mapelson will be a key player to watch scoring seven tries in three games. 

Meanwhile, for the Magpies there most recent result was a thrilling draw against the West Belconnen Warriors which saw them claim their first point of the season. 

The Magpies will look to build on this momentum and claim their first victory of 2026, with the side needing to overturn the 26-0 deficit suffered in round eight. 

Tuggeranong Bushrangers vs Belconnen United Sharks, Saturday 11 July, Greenway Oval, 10:40am

The Belconnen United Sharks travel to Greenway Oval for a matchup against the Tuggeranong Bushrangers on Saturday morning. 

For the home side, this weekend's match will be there first in three weeks having the bye prior to last weekend's washout with the side looking to rectify their latest result which was a defeat against the Blues. 

Whilst, for the Sharks their last outing was a strong fourteen-point victory at home against the Queanbeyan Blues as they continue to cement their top two spot on the table. 

These two sides met way back in round two of the KFS competition with the Sharks claiming a decisive win at NSWRL HQ Bruce, with the Bushrangers looking to overturn the result on their own patch of turf. 

Woden Valley Rams vs West Belconnen Warriors, Saturday 11 July, Woden Park, 12:00pm

The Woden Valley Rams and West Belconnen Warriors are set to do battle in a top four showdown at Woden Park on Saturday. 

For the Rams, they enter this weekend winless from their last two starts, suffering defeats against the Sharks and Bulls respectively and will be striving to overturn their recent run of results against the defending premiers. 

Meanwhile, the Warriors are looking to overturn their first slip up of the 2026 campaign after a last-minute draw against the last placed Magpies at home. 

In their sole previous matchup of the season, it was the West Belconnen Warriors who secured a slender six-point victory at home, with the two points important for the Rams as they sit one point behind the Bulls who are on the bye this weekend.
