NSW Cup & Jersey Flegg: Round 20 Preview

The Toyota Forklifts Canberra Raiders NSW Cup and Jersey Flegg sides line up against the South Sydney Rabbitohs this Saturday, as both teams look to build into a strong run home towards the finals.

Jersey Flegg Cup

Coming into round 20 on the back of two weeks off, the Raiders will be hoping to pick up where they left against the Warriors in round 17 as they suit up to take on the Rabbitohs at Raiders Belconnen this Saturday.

Having found form over the last month with three consecutive wins, Canberra have an opportunity to gain ground on the top five this weekend, with Souths currently sitting 5th.

Five-eighth Braydan Darmody is one to keep an eye on, having scored five tries across the last three games, including two consecutive doubles.

For the Rabbitohs, they enter Saturday’s showdown having won six straight but are by no means sitting comfortably on the edge of the top five.

Despite having not faced off against each other this year Canberra boast a strong record against Souths, having won seven of their previous nine encounters.

The Knock On Effect NSW Cup

Following the NRL on Saturday afternoon Canberra and Souths will battle it out in the NSW Cup at GIO Stadium, with both teams sitting one win outside of the top five.

Heading into round 20 Canberra have won five of their previous six matches, with the outlier being a hard-fought draw against the Bulldogs last weekend.

Canberra only has one change to their line-up this weekend, as Jayze Tuigamala comes in for Chaev Kolone on the bench.

Five-eighth Ethan Alaia will have the Bunnies defence on high alert, having scored a double in his last outing as well as leading the competition for tackle breaks with 81.

On the other side of the field the Rabbitohs have lost four consecutive games, risking dropping below the Raiders this weekend if that streak continues.

Yet to meet this season, the Raiders and Rabbitohs share the spoils in regard to their head-to-head history, having won four each with a draw in the mix as well.
