NSW Cup & Jersey Flegg: Round 20 Wrap

The Toyota Forklifts Canberra Raiders NSW Cup and Jersey Flegg sides recorded a win and a loss over the weekend at home against the Rabbitohs.

Jersey Flegg Cup

The Raiders Jersey Flegg Cup scored a brilliant 28-26 comeback victory over the Rabbitohs at Raiders Belconnen on Sunday afternoon.

The visitors started strong, bouncing out to a 22-6 lead at the halftime break.

With it all to do, the Raiders started the half strong with two tries to Hardy Glover and Alex Hardy to close the lead to 26-16.

Canberra continued their momentum, spreading the ball sideline to sideline before both big men Jayze Tuigamala and Shalom Uatisone crashed over to hit the lead and claim victory for the Green Machine.

Sunday's win moves the Raiders into seventh, sitting just three points outside the top five with six weeks remaining.

Knock On Effect NSW Cup

The Raiders NSW Cup side suffered their first defeat since May, going down 30-20 to the Rabbitohs at GIO Stadium.

Canberra hit the front early, with Sione Finau and Chevy Stewart both crossing the stripe in the opening 15 minutes.

Souths hit back through Moala Graham-Taufa, who scored a double to square up the scores at 16-all at halftime.

In a see-sawing affair, it was Souths who got the better of Canberra, crossing for a late try through Edward Kosi to seal their 30-20 win.

With a logjam on the ladder, just three points separates 4th and 10th on the ladder, with the Raiders sitting in 10th.

Both Canberra sides will take on Wests this weekend in Canberra on Saturday afternoon.
