Katrina Fanning Shield: Round 13 Wrap

The two teams leading the Katrina Fanning Shield suffered defeats on the weekend, whilst the Bushrangers and Magpies couldn't be split. 

Yass Magpies 4 drew. Tuggeranong Bushrangers 4 

The Yass Magpies claimed their third consecutive draw on Saturday in a tight encounter against the Tuggeranong Bushrangers at Walker Park.

For the Magpies, Jenna Cooke continued her strong form for the home side with another try and ensured her side got out to an early lead. 

Jarna Simpson levelled the scores for the Bushrangers late in the first half and after a scoreless second stanza the two teams couldn't split and shared the points. 

The Magpies will look for breakthrough for their first win next weekend when they take on the Sharks, whilst the Bushrangers face the Rams at Greenway Oval. 

Woden Valley Rams 20 def. Belconnen United Sharks 18

The Woden Valley Rams secured a big scalp on the weekend with a tight two-point victory against the Belconnen United Sharks. 

A hat-trick to last season's Player of the Year, Lara Cosgrove, ensured the Rams walked away with an important win in their quest to finish inside the top four, as they move four points clear of the Bushrangers who sit fifth. 

Meanwhile, the loss for the Sharks is their first against a team other than the Warriors, Eliza Taylor continued her try scoring streak, whilst Leia Griffith crossed for a double. 

The Rams will search for back-to-back wins next weekend against the Bushrangers away from home, while the Sharks return home and welcome the Yass Magpies. 

West Belconnen Warriors 24 def. Gungahlin Bulls 18 

The Gungahlin Bulls handed the West Belconnen Warriors their first defeat of the 2026 campaign in a six-point affair at Raiders Belconnen. 

A double to Tijana Zdraveska set up the game for the Gungahlin Bulls, before April Downey darted down the right edge to score the match winner.

For the Warriors, goal kicking proved the difference as they scored the same amount of tries, however weren't able to convert their goals, Crystal Papalii scored another individual try which brought the grandstand down. 

The Warriors will look to avoid consecutive losses next weekend against the Blues on Sunday, whilst the Bulls have the weekend off with the bye.
